The Role of CMM Inspection in Precision Plastic Mould Manufacturing

In precision mould manufacturing, a component can look perfect and still be dimensionally incorrect. That is where CMM inspection becomes important.

A Coordinate Measuring Machine measures critical dimensions, positions and geometries of manufactured components across X, Y and Z coordinates. In plastic mould manufacturing, it can be used to verify cavity dimensions, core alignment, inserts, mating surfaces and other critical features against engineering specifications.
